AkhayarPost isn't your typical newsroom. We're a crew of curious, creative, and slightly-obsessed storytellers who create content that gets people talking. We cover everything from breaking news to the latest viral trends with a fresh voice. Our mission? To deliver stories that are insightful, engaging, and unskippable for the digital generation in Myanmar.

The Gig

We're on the hunt for a Reporter to be our eyes and ears in the community. Your job is to find the stories that aren't being told the important, the weird, the wonderful. You'll be talking to people from all walks of life, digging for the truth, and turning your findings into articles that our audience can't put down. If you have a natural curiosity that can't be taught and a passion for your community, we want you on our team.

What You'll Do

  • Dig up and write original stories about what’s happening in and around Yangon.
  • Build a network of contacts so you're always the first to know what's going on.
  • Chat with everyone—from street vendors to city officials—to get the full story.
  • Pitch ideas that make our editors say, "Yes! Go get it!"
  • Run to breaking news scenes to report what's happening, as it happens.
  • Work with our visual storytellers (photographers and videographers) to create awesome content packages.
  • Write clean, compelling copy and always hit your deadlines.

Who You Are

  • You're obsessed with local news and what makes Yangon tick.
  • You're a fantastic writer in Burmese who can tell a story, not just list facts.
  • You love a good investigation and are relentless when you're onto something.
  • You can strike up a conversation with anyone and earn their trust.
  • You understand that news doesn't just happen from 9 to 5 and are flexible.
  • Experience in journalism is great, but a hunger to learn and a passion for storytelling are even better.
